JTYPEI® NA is an unfilled, natural amber polyetherimide rod manufactured for precision-machined components used in high-temperature, electrical, semiconductor, aerospace, medical equipment and industrial applications.
The amorphous structure of PEI provides an excellent combination of mechanical strength, dimensional stability, creep resistance, electrical insulation, flame resistance and reliable long-term thermal performance.
JTYPEI® NA rods are available in diameters from Ø4 to Ø200 mm, with standard lengths of 1,000 mm, 2,000 mm and 3,000 mm. Commonly requested sizes are available from stock, while customized diameters, lengths and tolerances can be supplied according to customer requirements.
SABIC ULTEM™ 1000 resin can be selected for customers requiring recognized resin grades, material traceability and supporting resin documentation.
ULTEM™ is a trademark of SABIC.
JTYPEI® NA provides reliable long-term performance at temperatures up to approximately 170°C, depending on mechanical load, pressure, chemical exposure and other operating conditions.
Its glass transition temperature is approximately 217°C, allowing PEI to retain good strength, stiffness and dimensional stability at elevated temperatures.
Final material suitability should be confirmed according to the actual operating temperature, duration, mechanical stress and environmental conditions.
Natural PEI provides high tensile and flexural strength, making it suitable for precision structural components, mechanical supports, rollers, bushings, spacers and electrical components.
The material offers a favorable strength-to-weight ratio and can replace metal in selected applications where electrical insulation, corrosion resistance and weight reduction are required.
PEI has good dimensional stability, low molding shrinkage, low moisture absorption and relatively low thermal expansion.
These properties help machined components maintain dimensional accuracy during production, assembly and long-term operation.
For high-precision components with tight tolerances, controlled annealing can be provided before or during machining to reduce internal stress.
JTYPEI® NA offers good resistance to long-term deformation under mechanical load and repeated stress.
It is suitable for load-bearing components, spacers, supports, fixtures and other parts that must maintain their dimensions over extended service periods.
Unfilled natural PEI provides excellent dielectric strength, high volume resistivity and stable electrical insulation performance across a wide temperature and frequency range.
Typical applications include insulating bushings, connector components, high-voltage spacers, sensor housings, terminal parts and semiconductor equipment components.
PEI is inherently flame-resistant without relying on additional flame-retardant additives in many standard grades.
It provides low smoke generation and can achieve UL94 V-0 ratings depending on the selected resin grade, product thickness and test conditions.
Applicable flame, smoke and toxicity requirements should be confirmed according to the final product, thickness and relevant industry standard.
JTYPEI® NA offers good resistance to many oils, fuels, hydrocarbons, alcohols, weak acids, hot water and cleaning environments.
However, PEI may be affected by strong alkalis, chlorinated solvents and certain polar solvents.
Chemical compatibility must be evaluated according to the specific chemical medium, concentration, temperature, pressure, mechanical stress and exposure time.
PEI rods are suitable for CNC turning, milling, drilling, grinding and other precision machining processes.
Compared with machining round components from large sheets or plates, PEI rods can reduce material waste and machining time when producing cylindrical parts.
Appropriate cutting tools, machining parameters, cooling methods and stress-relief procedures should be used to avoid overheating, cracking and dimensional changes.
JTYPEI® NA rods are available in diameters from Ø4 to Ø200 mm, covering small precision components and large industrial parts.
Standard rod lengths include 1,000 mm, 2,000 mm and 3,000 mm.
Availability of specific diameter and length combinations should be confirmed before ordering.
SABIC ULTEM™ 1000 resin can be supplied according to customer requirements for material performance, resin traceability and supporting documentation.
JUTAI maintains stock of commonly requested PEI rod sizes to support samples, small-volume orders, urgent production and recurring purchasing requirements.
Current stock should be confirmed according to diameter, length, resin grade and quantity.
Customized diameters, lengths and dimensional tolerances can be evaluated according to order volume, manufacturing process and technical requirements.
PEI rods can be cut to the required length, helping customers reduce handling time, machining preparation and material waste.
Annealing can be provided before or during machining to reduce internal stress and improve dimensional stability for precision components.
JUTAI provides CNC turning, milling, drilling, grinding and other machining services according to customer drawings or samples.
Machining tolerances depend on part geometry, dimensions, wall thickness, material grade and inspection requirements.

The typical glass transition temperature of natural PEI is approximately 217°C.
The glass transition temperature should not be treated as the recommended continuous operating temperature of a finished component.
ULTEM™ 1000 is an unfilled PEI grade offering balanced strength, toughness, electrical insulation and machinability.
ULTEM™ 2300 contains 30% glass fiber and provides higher stiffness, lower thermal expansion and improved dimensional stability. However, it is generally more abrasive to machining tools and less suitable where an unfilled, translucent material is required.
PEI provides excellent electrical insulation, flame resistance, dimensional stability and long-term thermal performance at a lower material cost than PEEK in many applications.
PEEK generally provides higher continuous-use temperature, better chemical resistance, better wear performance and better fatigue resistance in demanding mechanical environments.
The appropriate material depends on temperature, mechanical load, chemical exposure, electrical requirements and budget.
Yes. Natural unfilled PEI provides high volume resistivity, excellent dielectric strength and stable electrical properties over a wide temperature range.
It is commonly used for insulating bushings, electrical spacers, connector components, sensor housings and high-temperature electrical parts.
PEI provides good resistance to hot water and selected steam environments. However, suitability depends on temperature, pressure, exposure time, mechanical stress and sterilization cycles.
For repeated high-temperature steam sterilization, PPSU or PEEK may be more suitable depending on the application.
PEI offers good resistance to many oils, fuels, hydrocarbons, alcohols and weak aqueous solutions.
